Spectator Information

In this section you will find information on where supporters can stand to view the event.

Swim ViewingView from the balcony

The waterfront rooms at the ExCel are the best viewing point to watch the start of the swim. All family members and friends can come up to rooms during the day. Please ensure that you advise the triathlon team if you are intending to bring along supporters. You can also watch the swim from the Dockside to allow you to see your swimmer come out of the water once he/she has completed the distance, although the elevated position gives you a good view throughout the swim.

This year a pedestrian bridge will be built on the east side of ExCeL so friends and family can watch you from almost anywhere on the dockfront.

Bike Viewing

This is harder to view given the speed of the competitors and access for spectators on the closed roads. We suggest spectators view the bike section from the west entrance of ExCeL (before the multi storey car park), both the walkways from the DLR at Custom House Station and Prince Regent Station to ExCeL or from under the Fox bar at ground level.

Run ViewingView of the run from the balcony

There are viewing points all along the run course from the transition exit, inside on the run as the course loops through the building and outside the East entrance. The finish is indoors so spectators should check the route to the finish so as not to miss you crossing the line! The bike and run are lapped courses so spectators will have the opportunity to see you several times depending on the distance you’re doing.

The run course can be viewed anywhere outside the east of ExCeL as the route stretches along the north edge of the dock. The run route also loops through Expo so you can also see the runners from inside ExCeL. Spectators are reminded to respect the safety of the competitors and are urged to always be aware of the race going on around them. The Britannia Pedestrian Bridge which crosses Victoria Dock is a public right of way and should not be used as a viewing platform for safety reasons. Please only use it to cross the docks.

Our top tips for enjoyable spectatingTime to relax and take in the atmosphere.

Tell your athlete where you'll be on the course so they can look for you as well.
Know the course. Look over the course map in advance so you know what to expect on race day.

Allow yourself plenty of time to park. There are plenty of parking spaces in ExCeL, or you can use the DLR. Plan to arrive early.
Be careful along the course and don't get in the way of athletes & if you need to cross the course, make sure you're in the clear and obey the commands of the police and course marshals.

Remember a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and bottled water.

NB: Please remember that all spectators must respect the safety of the competitors and they are urged to always be aware of the race going on around them. The Britannia Pedestrian Bridge which crosses Victoria Dock is a public right of way and is not to be used as a viewing platform for safety reasons. Please only use it to cross the docks.
