MaAfrika Tikkun sends 'thank you' message to Belron® employees
MaAfrika Tikkun has sent a 'thank you' message to Belron® employees in response to the fantastic fund-raising effort at the London Triathlon and throughout the year.
On 1st August Belron® employees from around the world gathered to take part in the London Triathlon. It was the eighth year that Belron® has taken part and over the years participation in the event has steadily grown. It was incredible to see 600 people from 18 countries, along with their family and friends taking part together as one huge team to raise money for MaAfrika Tikkun.
This year the Belron® competitors were joined by three youth leaders from Johannesburg - Teboho Shibambo, Tshiamo Phuthagae, and Mduduzi Mshibe. Over the past few months they have been through a rigorous training programme and were delighted that their efforts paid-off when they came first in the Sprint Team event.
Later in the day the competitors were invited to celebrate their success and results were announced by Gary Lubner, CEO of Belron® at an awards ceremony. (See below the results of the top three individuals and teams.) Several business units handed cheques totalling €280,000 to Bertie Lubner, founder of MaAfrika Tikkun – this was a fantastic start to achieving this year's sponsorship target of €500,000.
The money that we raise will give orphans and vulnerable children living in the communities in South Africa vital care and support, and the skills needed to succeed in life. Watch the thank you video from MaAfrika Tikkun and find out more about the difference that our money makes.
